Moondog is a made up name, with many musical and some sports connections.
Moondog was the adopted pen name of Louis Thomas Hardin (May 26, 1916 – September 8, 1999), a blind American composer, musician, poet and inventor of several musical instruments. He adopted the name "Moondog" in honor of a dog "who used to howl at the moon more than any dog I knew of." Moving to New York as a young man, Moondog made a deliberate decision to make his home on the streets there, where he spent approximately twenty of the thirty years he lived in the city. Most days he could be found in his chosen part of town wearing clothes he had created based on his own interpretation of the Norse god Odin. Thanks to his unconventional outfits and lifestyle, he was known for much of his life as "The Viking of 6th Avenue". A documentary about his life, "The Viking of 6th Avenue", is in production for release in 2014.
The horns forming part of our logo were inspired by the Viking helmet worn by Hardin.
Mandarin Oriental | Barcelona This project by Patricia Urquiola, a protégée of Achille Castiglioni and Piero Lissoni, has a lot of drama to offer for a 98-room getaway. But once you start exploring the property—two restaurants, a bar, pools inside and out—Urquiola's talents become even more apparent. She has masterfully incorporated modern shapes (furniture by Moroso, Flos, and Molteni), elements of Mediterranean style (Bassano ceramics, antique Spanish tile floors), and old-fashioned luxe (velvet upholsteries, a Chesterfield sofa) into the Asian aesthetic that defines the Mandarin Oriental brand (Tai Ping silk-wool rugs, large cotton screens, lacquered armoires). mandarinoriental.com/barcelona, patriciaurquiola.com
The Aviation Wind Desk would look great in a home office, plus it has lots of room on top for computers, lamps and books and it also features storage spaces along the sides. You can see the steel screws perfectly along the desk which adds to the airplane effect. At almost $2000, this workspace will have you soaring through the day's work.
The floating shelf is the symbol of clean and uncluttered modern design, so it's unexpected that the Stage Interactive Shelf should have so many hidden features. It appears to be a simple wooden beam that's been mounted to the wall, but it actually functions as drawer equipped with an electrical connection.
